These Many Cricketers Celebrate Their Birthday on December 6

December 6 has turned into a celebratory day for world cricket, with several prominent names sharing the same birthday. It’s not something that happens frequently, where not one, two or three but eleven prominent players celebrate their birthday on the same day.

India’s modern era great Jasprit Bumrah, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, middle order batter Shreyas Iyer and former India seamer RP Singh all celebrate their birthdays on the 6th of December, receiving warm wishes from across the cricket community.

Bumrah, Jadeja and Iyer are key members of India’s setup across formats, while RP Singh, born in 1985, played a major role in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup win with his swing bowling, under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

The list of December 6 birthdays doesn’t end there. It is interesting to note that December 6th marks the day of birth of not just these Indian cricketers but a few more, and also some of the top international cricketers from around the world.

India batter Karun Nair and fast bowler Anshul Kamboj also share the date. Kamboj, who made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in 2024, rose to fame with a historic 10-wicket haul in a single Ranji Trophy innings. His breakout season sparked a bidding war at the IPL 2025 auction before Chennai Super Kings signed him for INR 3.40 crore. He has also been retained by CSK for the IPL 2026 season.

New Zealand’s explosive batter Glenn Phillips, born in 1996, is another December 6 baby. Known for his athletic fielding and power hitting, he is also called the ‘Modern Day Jonty Rhodes’ after taking a lot of stunning and near impossible-looking catches in recent years.

Former England captain and all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, born in 1977, also celebrates his birthday on this date. Flintoff was a central figure in England’s storied 2005 Ashes triumph, remembered for his fierce batting and pace bowling. Flintoff is also infamous for his on-field argument with Yuvraj Singh which led to the six consecutive sixes against Stuart Broad during the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.

Former Zimbabwe all-rounder Sean Ervine, Ireland batter Harry Tector (born 1999) and Goa’s Suyash Prabhudessai also share the day. Tector currently plays all formats of the game for Ireland as a middle order batter and his importance in the Irish team is growing rapidly.

Fans on social media joked that these names could form a strong “Birthday XI”.

An account on X even suggested declaring December 6 as ‘National Cricket Day’ for the amount of talent born on this day.
