Pretoria Capitals Stars Who Made an Impact in 2026 T20 World Cup
Before the 2026 T20 World Cup kicked off, Pretoria Capitals ended another record-breaking SA20 season on January 25. They finished second on the table but eventually lost the final to Sunrisers Eastern Cape. It was their second final defeat, again against SEC. They had previously reached the final in the inaugural season.
Pretoria became only the second team, alongside SEC, to finish in the top two twice in SA20 history.
Several Pretoria Capitals players delivered match-winning performances in SA20. They then carried that form into the T20 World Cup 2026, which began on February 7.

Here are the top five Pretoria Capitals players who made a mark at the T20 World Cup 2026.
1. Dewald Brevis (South Africa) – T20 World Cup Performance
Dewald Brevis finished SA20 as Pretoria’s leading run scorer with 370 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 156.11 where he also scored two fifties.
He became the first-ever player to score a century in an SA20 final. He was also the second Pretoria Capitals player to hit a century this season, after Shai Hope.

The Proteas star also finished as Pretoria’s highest run-scorer in a single SA20 season and was the league’s highest six-hitter with 30 sixes.
At the T20 World Cup 2026, until the Super Eights stage, Brevis has scored 173 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 151.75. He has batted in the middle order throughout the tournament. He is yet to score a fifty, but he is South Africa’s third-highest run scorer and their second-highest six-hitter in the competition.
2. Lungi Ngidi – South Africa’s Best Bowler at T20 World Cup
Lungi Ngidi was Pretoria’s fourth-highest wicket-taker in SA20. He picked up 8 wickets in 11 innings, with best figures of 3/39.
This season, Ngidi became the first player in SA20 history to take a hat-trick. He achieved that feat against DSG.
At the T20 World Cup 2026, Ngidi has shown tremendous form. Until the Super Eights, he is South Africa’s highest wicket-taker with 12 wickets in 6 innings at an economy of 6.87, including one four-wicket haul.
In the overall tournament wicket charts, he is the third-highest wicket-taker and could soon move to the top as some teams have exited the tournament before the semi-finals.
3. Shai Hope – West Indies Skipper at T20 World Cup
Shai Hope finished SA20 with 276 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 134.63 where he also scored a century.
That century created history. Hope’s 118 not out vs DSG became Pretoria Capitals’ highest individual score in SA20 and the highest individual score in SA20 history. He also hit the second-most fours for Pretoria this season.

At the T20 World Cup 2026, Hope captained the West Indies side. He scored 217 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 130.72, including two fifties. He also hit the second-most fours for West Indies in the tournament but his team failed to qualify for the semis losing against India in the last Super Eights match.
4. Sherfane Rutherford – West Indies’ New Hero
Sherfane Rutherford played many defining knocks for Pretoria during the SA20 and followed it up with strong performances at the 2026 T20 World Cup.
In SA20, Rutherford scored 334 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 165.34, including two fifties. He became the first-ever Pretoria Capitals player to score 300+ runs in an SA20 season.

He finished the season as Pretoria’s highest boundary-hitter and second-highest six-hitter. Rutherford also took 4 wickets in a match during the campaign.
At the T20 World Cup 2026, Rutherford was West Indies’ third-highest run scorer. He scored 183 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 179.41 and an average of 61.00.
