Blessing Muzarabani had an excellent 2026 T20 World Cup for Zimbabwe

KKR Sign Blessing Muzarabani Following Strong T20 World Cup

Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has secured a contract with Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2026 after a strong campaign in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Reports suggest that Blessing Muzarabani chose the IPL opportunity after previously being linked with the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Zimbabwe pacer had gone unsold at the PSL auction last month but was later signed by Islamabad United as a replacement for West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph.

However, Muzarabani has now opted to join three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders.

Blessing Muzarabani at the T20 World Cup

Blessing Muzarabani recently finished an impressive run in the 2026 T20 World Cup with Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe reached the Super Eights stage of the tournament.

Muzarabani played 6 matches in India and Sri Lanka and picked up 13 wickets. 4 out of the 13 wickets came in the historic win over Australia.

Only Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy took more wickets than Muzarabani in the tournament. Both bowlers finished with 14 wickets, though they played 8 and 9 matches respectively.

Muzarabani’s performance made him one of the best fast bowlers of the recently concluded tournament.

Blessing Muzarabani’s T20 Experience

The Zimbabwe pacer has been a regular across formats for his country since making his debut in 2017.

Standing at 6 feet 8 inches, Blessing Muzarabani is known for his pace and bounce.

In 89 T20 Internationals, he has taken 106 wickets with an economy rate of 7.24. He reached the 100 wickets mark during the T20 World Cup 2026.

Muzarabani also has experience playing in other T20 cricket leagues around the world. He has played in the:

  • Caribbean Premier League (CPL)
  • ILT20
  • Pakistan Super League (PSL)
  • Vitality Blast in England

This will be Blessing Muzarabani’s second stint in the IPL.

He was previously part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title-winning squad in IPL 2025. Muzarabani joined the team as a temporary replacement player for Lungi Ngidi during the closing stages of that season.

KKR have now added him to their squad for the upcoming season. And looks like the Zimbabwe pacer could get more chances this time around.

Earlier this year, Kolkata Knight Riders had to terminate Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s contract, despite signing him for INR 9.20 crore during the IPL 2026 auction.

Another KKR fast bowling signing, Matheesha Pathirana, is currently undergoing rehabilitation after suffering an injury during the recently concluded T20 World Cup.

According to reports, Blessing Muzarabani is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata on March 17 to join the team.

KKR will begin their IPL 2026 campaign on March 29 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
