UFC 326: Everything You Need to Know, Holloway vs Oliveira and More

UFC 326 takes place on Saturday, March 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It is the promotion’s third numbered event of 2026.

The headline fight features “BMF” champion Max Holloway against former lightweight king Charles Oliveira

This is a ceremonial BMF title fight at lightweight.

Max Holloway’s Road to UFC 32

Max Holloway is a former featherweight champion and one of the greatest fighters in that division.

He unified the interim and undisputed featherweight titles in June 2017 by defeating Jose Aldo. He defended the belt 3 times before losing it to Alexander Volkanovski in December 2019.

At UFC 300, Holloway captured the BMF title with a dramatic last-second knockout of Justin Gaethje.

He later lost to Ilia Topuria in a featherweight title bid. But he bounced back. Holloway defended the BMF belt with a decision win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 318. That fight took place in New Orleans and marked Poirier’s retirement bout.

Holloway also fought Oliveira nearly 11 years ago at UFC Saskatoon. He won that fight by TKO after Oliveira suffered a strange neck injury. The fight left fans unsatisfied.

Now, almost 11 years later, they meet again at UFC 326.

When they first headlined in Saskatoon, Holloway had won 6 straight fights. Oliveira had won 4 straight, including a double bonus-winning submission in his previous outing.

Charles Oliveira’s Lightweight Legacy

Charles Oliveira is a former lightweight champion. He won the vacant title at UFC 262 by defeating Michael Chandler after Khabib Nurmagomedov retired.

Oliveira defended the belt against Dustin Poirier.

However, he later lost the title on the scales. He failed to make weight for his UFC 274 title defense against Justin Gaethje. He won that fight by decision but had to surrender the belt.

Oliveira holds multiple UFC records. He recently secured a bonus-winning submission victory over Mateusz Gamrot in Brazil.

Since losing the title due to missing weight, Oliveira’s results have been inconsistent. He alternated wins and losses. He was knocked out by Ilia Topuria in June in a vacant lightweight title fight.

That loss ended his title hopes. However, he avoided his first losing streak in 9 years by submitting Gamrot.

He has not had a winning streak since his championship run.

UFC 326: Co-Main Event and Key Fights

The co-main event features top-10 middleweights Caio Borralho and Reinier de Ridder.

Borralho suffered his first defeat in a decade in his last fight. Before that, he won 7 straight after arriving in 2022.

Reinier de Ridder also looks to bounce back. His 5-fight win streak ended with a loss to Brendan Allen.
