Players Retained by Franchises ahead of IPL 2026 Auction

The IPL 2026 player-retention window closed on November 15, 2025. All 10 franchises confirmed their retained players ahead of the auction. The IPL 2026 Auction will take place on 16 December at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. 

A total of 173 players were retained. That group includes 49 overseas players. Franchises enter the auction with a combined purse of ₹237.55 crore for 77 slots. Each team can have up to 25 players in its squad.

Punjab Kings retained the most players (21). Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans each retained 20 players.

Heading into the IPL 2026 auction, Kolkata Knight Riders hold the largest purse at ₹64.3 crore to fill up to 13 slots and 6 overseas spots. Chennai Super Kings have the second-largest purse of ₹43.4 crore to fill up to 9 slots.
