Final Squads After IPL 2026 Auction: Full Team Lists
The one-day mini IPL 2026 auction wrapped up on December 16 in Abu Dhabi with franchises clearly prioritising youth and local experience.
All 10 teams together bought 29 overseas players for INR 128.05 crore, while 48 Indian players cost INR 87.40 crore. Notably, most of that Indian spending went towards uncapped players.
Only 9 capped Indian players found buyers. Among them, 6 were sold at base price. 5 of those had a base price of just INR 75 lakh, while Akash Deep was priced at INR 1 crore.
Age was a major factor throughout the auction. Teams focused on players who could serve them long term. Domestic performers, especially those excelling in BCCI tournaments and state leagues, received strong backing from franchises.
A total of 32 players bought were under the age of 25 on auction day. 29 of them were Indians. On the other hand, 20 players aged 30 or above earned contracts and only 3 of them were Indians โ Venkatesh Iyer, Rahul Tripathi and Praveen Dubey.
Only 3 Indians aged 26 or more earned at least twice their base price. Those were Rahul Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer and uncapped fast bowler Auqib Nabi.
Rahul Tripathi emerged as the oldest Indian bought, while David Miller was the only player aged 35 or more. Both were picked at their base prices.
Biggest Buys at IPL 2026 Auction
Once again, Cameron Green grabbed headlines. He fetched INR 25.20 crore, making him the most expensive overseas player in IPL history and the third-most expensive player overall. He joined Kolkata Knight Riders, with 113 bids raised by 4 teams. Under the new rules, Green will receive INR 18 crore, while the remaining amount will go towards player welfare.

Matheesha Pathirana followed closely. He earned an INR 18 crore bid from KKR, which is the highest ever for a Sri Lankan player in the IPL.
Chennai Super Kings, usually conservative at auctions, surprised many. They spent INR 14.20 crore each on Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma. Previously, CSK had crossed the INR 10 crore mark for an Indian only once, INR 14 crore for Deepak Chahar in 2022.
Overall, uncapped Indians dominated the IPL 2026 mini auction. Several lesser-known names triggered bidding wars, showing how franchises now value domestic form over reputation.
