5 Bowlers Who Could Dominate the 2026 T20 World Cup
The T20 World Cup 2026 is all set to start with all the matches to be played in India and Sri Lanka. Conditions in the subcontinent have already shifted focus towards spin bowling. Slow bowlers are expected to play a major role from the opening game on February 7 until the Finale on March 8.
That said, quality fast bowlers are unlikely to fade into the background. On slower surfaces, precision and variation often matter more than pace alone. The 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup will test adaptability rather than raw speed.

Here are 5 bowlers who could leave a strong mark at the 2026 T20 World Cup as per the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings. Unsurprisingly, spin dominates the list.
5. Adil Rashid (England)
ICC T20I Ranking: 4
Adil Rashid continues to be one of the most reliable spinners in T20 cricket. Few bowlers have adapted to the format as well as he has. While his control and experience remain key for England, his global experience in the format stands out.
Rashid has bowled 2,852 deliveries in T20 internationals, the most by any player. Only 5 bowlers have taken more wickets than his 150 T20I scalps.
In his last 5 T20Is, he has taken 15 wickets. At 38, he remains a crucial option, especially in pressure games.
4. Abrar Ahmed (Pakistan)
ICC T20I Ranking: 2
Abrar Ahmed enters the tournament in strong form. He recently dismantled Australia in a home white-ball series, taking 6/42 across 3 matches.
The 27-year-old owns a T20I average of 17.15, bettered by only 5 bowlers in the tournament. His confidence and attacking style make him one of Pakistan’s biggest threats, starting with their opening match. He picked 2 for 23 in his four overs during the opening match against Netherlands.
3. Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka)
ICC T20I Ranking: 6
As co-hosts, Sri Lanka will look to Wanindu Hasaranga to lead their spin attack. The leg-spinner remains the side’s most influential bowler and allrounder with lower-order hitting.
Hasaranga has the second-most LBW dismissals in T20I history (36), behind only Rashid Khan (49). His subtle changes of pace and angle are expected to be even more effective on home pitches.
2. Jacob Duffy (New Zealand)
ICC T20I Ranking: 5
Jacob Duffy stands out in a ranking list dominated by spinners. He is the highest-ranked fast bowler in the ICC T20I charts.
The 31-year-old has taken 4 or more wickets in 5 different T20Is. Early breakthroughs from Duffy could be crucial if New Zealand are to reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2022.Â
1. Varun Chakaravarthy (India)
ICC T20I Ranking: 1
Varun Chakaravarthy enters the T20 World Cup as the top-ranked T20I bowler. His late rise continues to impress.
Now 34, he made a strong impact at last year’s Champions Trophy. He took 5 wickets on debut and added 2 more in the final. He has not gone wicketless in 13 consecutive matches in which he has bowled.
India will rely heavily on him in familiar and favourable spin conditions.
Special Mention: Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)
Rashid Khan narrowly misses the top five but remains a major threat. He picked up 14 wickets in 8 innings at the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The Afghanistan skipper is also 4 wickets away from 700 T20 wickets. Asian conditions could favour his style of bowling strongly this time around.
