Rohit Sharma to play the second Test vs Australia, confirmed
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla confirmed on November 26 that Indian captain Rohit Sharma will participate in the second Test against Australia in Adelaide, which starts on December 6. Rohit had missed the first Test in Perth due to personal reasons but has since arrived in Australia and joined the team.
“The victory in Perth is of great importance. Our bowlers and batsmen played very well…Rohit Sharma will be playing the second test as the Captain…,” Shukla informed ANI.
In Rohit’s absence, Jasprit Bumrah captained the team to a notable 295-run win at the Optus Stadium, giving India an early lead in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
Upon his arrival, Rohit was seen practicing in the nets and is set to lead the team in the upcoming day-night Test in Adelaide. India has been successful in Australia in recent years, having won consecutive Test series during their 2019-20 and 2021-22 tours. With the first match won, India is well-positioned to aim for a third consecutive series victory.
Following the Adelaide Test, the series will continue with matches in Brisbane (December 14-18), Melbourne (December 26-30), and Sydney (January 3-7), covering the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
