FIFA World Cup 2026: All Qualified Teams, Schedule and Venues

The FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification is now complete. A total of 48 teams will take part in the 23rd edition of the tournament.

The United States, Mexico and Canada will host the competition in June and July 2026. This will be the first World Cup with 48 teams, expanding from 32 teams used since 1998.

A total of 104 matches will be played across 16 stadiums. 78 matches will be played in the United States, with 13 each in Mexico and Canada.

The kickoff slots are designed to suit global audiences, with prime-time viewing at 9 p.m. CET in Europe and 8 p.m. GMT in the UK. 


FIFA World Cup 2026: Event Details

  • Hosts: USA, Mexico, Canada
  • Opening match: 11 June 2026 at Estadio Azteca, Mexico City
  • Final: 19 July 2026 at MetLife Stadium, New York/New Jersey

Estadio Azteca will host the opening match. It has already hosted two FIFA World Cup finals and the 1968 Olympic gold medal match.

The final at MetLife Stadium will be the second men’s FIFA World Cup final in the USA, after 1994.

Japan became the first team to qualify (apart from hosts) on 20 March 2025, marking their eighth straight World Cup appearance. Defending champions Argentina qualified on 25 March 2025.

Turkey, Sweden, Czech Republic and Bosnia and Herzegovina booked their spot from the European qualifiers. Iraq became the 48th and final team to qualify from the inter-confederation playoff alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Four-time champions Italy lost to host Bosnia and Herzegovina in a penalty shootout during the playoff final, missing out on a third consecutive FIFA World Cup qualification.
