UCL teams in action during Champions League quarter finals

UCL Prediction: Can Madrid and Barca Make a Big Comeback?

The UCL 2025-26 quarter-final second legs promise high drama after decisive first-leg results. Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all won their opening matches. No game ended in a draw.

Sporting CP, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool still have a chance to turn things around. Arsenal lead 1-0. Real Madrid trail 2-1. PSG hold a 2-0 advantage over Liverpool. Atletico lead 2-0 against Barcelona.

Three teams, Real Madrid, Sporting CP and Barcelona, lost at home in the first leg. That makes the return fixtures tougher. PSG were the only home side to win, beating Liverpool 2-0.

Arsenal vs Sporting – Gunners Slight UCL Favourites

Arsenal secured a late 1-0 win in the first leg. Kai Havertz scored the winner. However, they were not fully convincing.

Sporting won the xG battle at Estadio Jose Alvalade. That keeps the tie alive.

Arsenal are strong at home. They have lost just once at the Emirates this season and have won 7 straight games since then. 5 of their last 6 matches have seen under 2.5 goals.

Mikel Arteta may approach this game cautiously, especially with a big match against Manchester City coming up in the Premier League. Arsenal lost the Carabao Cup Final against City. Martin Odegaard could also miss out.

Arsenal should edge this tie, but expect a tight and low-scoring match

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid – Expect Goals

Bayern Munich impressed in the first leg and now hold a 2-1 advantage. They have been strong throughout the 2025/26 season.

Their home record is excellent. Bayern have won 18 of their last 20 matches at the Allianz Arena.

Real Madrid, however, always remain dangerous in the UCL. They have failed to score in only 4 matches across all competitions this season.

Their history in the UCL shows they can produce comebacks.

The first leg produced a combined xG of 5.12, suggesting plenty of chances were up for grabs.

Expect goals in this clash. Bayern’s form and home advantage could take them through but Madrid will push hard. Given their UCL comebacks in the past seasons, they are still in contention.

Barcelona vs Atletico – Advantage Atletico

Atletico Madrid stunned Barcelona with a 2-0 win at the Nou Camp. It was their first clean sheet in Barcelona in nearly 5 years.

It was also only the second time in 30 matches that Barcelona failed to score.

These two sides have met 5 times this season. Results have been mixed. Barcelona won 3-0 in the Copa del Rey second leg after losing 4-0 earlier. They also won 2-1 away at Atletico recently.

Barcelona had 18 shots in the first leg and a higher xG of 1.16 compared to 0.45, but failed to score.

Pau Cubarsi is suspended after his red card.

Barcelona may win the second leg if they score early on, but if Atletico hold on to their 2-0 lead, their defence will not be easy to break and could be enough to take them through.

Liverpool vs PSG – Tough Task for Reds in the UCL

Liverpool face a huge challenge after losing 2-0 in Paris. They have now lost 3 consecutive matches for the third time this season.

They are also fifth in the Premier League and out of both domestic cups.

PSG dominated the first leg. They had 18 shots compared to Liverpool’s 3. They also had more possession, passes, crosses and better accuracy.

However, Anfield is known for big European nights. Past comebacks, including the 4-0 win over Barcelona in 2019, still stand out.

Mohamed Salah could play a key role in what is going to be his last season with the Reds.

Despite that, PSG’s quality should see them through. They may not be able repeat their dominance but the two-goal lead should give them control to go through.
